12-28-2009 The Grand Theater Superior This movie was way better than it was supposed to be. I mean James Cameron writer/director, James Horner composer, Celine Dion singing at the ending credits, it's going to be Titanic 2 right? Wrong. Although it uses all the ingerdients of a normal movie it uses them in the most effective way possible. It's like going to your favorite restaraunt and ordering you favorite dish and enjoying it. Was it a surprise? No, but you enjoy it anyway. Now I'll be the first to say it's not the best of the superiors, in fact it's probably the worst of the superiors. If I look over my list though at all of the Excellent ratings, I will not find a movie that is better than this one. Great action movie, with great sci-fi ideas that was crafted very well. It's a bit long, but even after 2:40 I'd like to stay in that world a while longer. That's the usual sign of a Superior movie...you don't want it to end. I tried to fight it, I di

The Princess and the Frog

12-26-2009 The Grand Theater Great Thank you Disney. Although this was not The Lion King, Beauty and the Beast, or Aladdin, it was so nice to see an "Old Fashined" animated feature from Disney. The Pixar stuff is great, don't get me wrong, but sometimes you need to go back to your roots. It's kind of like church (hang with me here) I love my church, it's contemporary and exciting using all kind of media, lights, sound etc. I love it. But every now and then I think about my church from childhood. I remember the Christmas eve services on a cold dark night. I remember the old hymns from an old organ. Those are sweet memories of tradition and stability. This movie was like that old church, sure it's not the latest and flashiest, but that doesn't make it innefective. It's a great movie for all the reasons any movie is a great movie. Great characters, Great Story, Great Story telling. And a five year old who passes out into a popcorn coma on the way home hel

Precious

12-24-2009 The Grand Theater Poor Well I do find myself in a pickle here. Great Characters? Check. Every character is complex and interesting. There is no black and white. There are reasons why everyone is the way they are. Great acting? Check, check, check! Acting was phenomenal. Probably the best performances of the year! So why a rating of poor? Because in the end I just didn't like it. I didn't understand the point. If the movie was to tell this girls story, why didn't they tell us the ending? Every thread in the story was left unresolved. You are left not knowing anything about what happens to these characters. Don't get me wrong it doesn't have to have a happy ending, but it must have an ending. Perhaps the only point of this movie was to make everyone cry. The structure of the film is what ruined it for me. Let me summarize. First something horrible happens, and then something even more horrible happens, and then something even more horrbile happens. Things g

2012

11-14-2009 The Grand Theater Excellent Now before I start, a few things. 1. If you're worried about a movie being believable, don't go see a movie about the end of the world. And don't complain about how predictable it is as if you want the heroes in the story to die. You know you don't want them to die! Oh stop it, that wasn't any more a spolier than telling you "There's going to be a big wave!" Now with that understanding this is a great movie! It's long, but hey it takes a long time to destroy the world. I wasn't bored at all, I thought the effects were good. Not "Christmas Carol" or "Knowing" great, but I was in no way disapointed. I thought the acting and the story were appropriate to the movie which was being made. Will it win an Oscar, no but something tells me we all understood that before we went. I've been looking forward to this movie and it did not let me down. Good job. Everyone, really, relax and have a lit

Pirate Radio

11-14-2009 The Grand Theater Great This movie was surprisingly better, funnier, and sweeter than expected. It was a nice surprise. The characters in this movie are endearing, even when they're horrible to each other. Their charm and bond makes you want to be a part of their group. This is what propels this movie to greatness. Now don't get too excited, Pirate Radio isn't going to change the world, but it's worth seeing, on DVD at least! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hRh1-cyWfGQ

The Men Who Stare at Goats

11-14-2009 The Grand Theater Good This movie looked funny and had an All-Star cast, so I was surprised when I spent the whole evening a little bored. There was a lot of potential, and it wasn't a horrible movie, the story just didn't deliver the goods. Better luck next time I guess. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GC2TzspJn5A

A Christmas Carol 3-D

11-8-2009 The Grand Theater Superior This was the scariest I've seen in a long time. That's saying a lot considering my list. There were times I was shaken, and this isn't an unfamiliar story. This was also a beautiful movie with amusement park like effects, especially with the 3-D, which by the way I highly reccomend. With the 3-D glasses you really notice the care and detail taken to truly make this an imaginative and engaging remake of the ultimate Christmas Story (Next to the Jesus Story of course.) Many are critical of this movie because of it's over use of special effects and I would agree with them if the story telling and acting weren't as superb as they were. Jim Carey (I'm not really a fan) was excellent in his portrayal of Scrooge and the Spirits of Christmas Past and Present. Each Spirit character including Jacob Marley was both endearing and terrifying. Exactly as their characters should be. The exception being the Spirit of Christmas Yet to Come, h

Michael Jackson's This Is It!

10-28-2009 The Grand Theater No Rating Since this really isn't a "movie" movie I didn't rate it as such. I really enjoyed this movie. It was simply file footage of concert preperation for his London concerts that he never got to perform. I was truly impressed with Jackson's work ethic, attention to detail, and his ability to bring out the best music and performance from everyone who worked for him. Jackson was truly a professional, when he speaked everyone listened. And he was right in his directions. The performance they were rehearsing would have been out of this world incredible, and Jackson at 50 sure didn't look like he hadn't performed in 10 years. I thoroughly enjoyed and was inspired by this movie. It wasn't about his death or life, it was about his craft and that's why it so appealed to me. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cyrkcz7msfY

Paramormal Activity

10-28-2009 The Grand Theater Four Seasons Excellent This was not the scarient movie I've ever scene. I watched it alone, and I slept fine. However it was a great movie to see. I was concerned at the begining. It looked like another Cloverfield or Quarantine at the begining, which if you're familiar with my reviews is not a good thing, Fortunately this was the best filmed of the "reality" live taped movies. the first half of the movie you don't want to see the demon manifest itself because you're afraid to be scared. The second half of the movie you want to see the demon manifest itself because it's fun. This movie isn't gory or overly paramormal. It's the simple things that make this a fun movie to watch. And don't worry, you won't have nightmares! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F_UxLEqd074

Zombieland

10-9-2009 The Grand Theater Superior This movie was flippin' awesome. Non-stop entertainment from begining to end. This is how you make a smart Horror-Comedy. When you compare it to other movies on this list, no it is not as good as they are, but when you compare it to other comedies, it is beyond superior. And Gorry. Oh my gosh I've never seen so much blood. It was disgusting, I loved it. There's nothing serious about this movie at all it's just a fun zombie killing movie. The ideas were fresh and the characters surprising and interesting. Go see this movie and be prepared to laugh until your head explodes, it just may happen, especially if someone thinks you're a zombie. They'll probably shoot you twice, rule #2. I feel I learned a lot about how to survive if the world suddenly becomes overrun by cannibalistic zombie. A good skill to have. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M-cIjPOJdFM

The Surrogates

10-9-2009 The Grand Theater Great I love a good sci-fi thriller. Bruce Willis has to be an old man by now right? Well he didn't look it, he was pretty tough. Although I admit this movie was predicatble, with no real surprises, it had some cool effects and it was cool to see all the Surogates deactivate at the end. Oh come on now, stop whinning, you had to know they get shut down at the end, there's no way that's a spoiler. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jwTJ7mCcFoY

Taking Woodstock

9-6-09 The Grand Theater Good This movie moved slowly at the begining. I liked it, however I thought they spent too much time focusing on the story of the main character and his family. That's all well and good but I think they missed the opportunity to show my generation what Woodstock really looked like. I think they succesfully portrayed the "Spirit" of Woodstock, however the movie sort of failed to portray what it actually, physically, looked like. I feel like a saw a small part of the whole picture, and it was a full picture I really wanted to see, so in that way I'm a little disapointed. Overall though, a flick worth seeing but I wish I knew then what I knew now and I would have enjoyed it much better! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=26AVKDUhFoo

Inglorious Basterds

The Grand Theater 8/23/2009 Excellent This move was as good as I had hoped it would be. What made it good was what makes all good movies good, "Writing" Quinten Tarantino is one of the best writer/ directors around and Inglorious Baterds fits his style perfectly. This movie is not as good as Pulp Fiction, but it is most certainly in the same league. This movie takes it's time and isn't consumed with the violence, even though it is extremely violent. There are no weak (or short) scenes. The dialogue is carefully written and the character complex and interesting. The best performance is by Brad Pitt. If only this were a true story, things would have been different. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5sQhTVz5IjQ

District 9

The Grand Theater 8/22/2009 Good This movie wasn't as good as I wanted it to be. It's certainly worth seeing, but the camera work wasn't done very well. Some of the action was cool, but some of the "raw news footage" made me think of Cloverfield and Quarantine (Not a good thing to be reminded of). Fortunately the whole movie wasn't set up as news footage, however the design and writing seemed haphazard and unfocused. I thought the main male character was annoying so I didn't care about his sacrafice on behalf of the aliens. The cool part of the movie was that you have a lot more empathy for the aliens then the humans. I almost want to see a sequel where the aliens come back and kick the crap out of us. If they'd make one I'd go see it and hope they learned how to make a better designed movie in process. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pHihFA8q8xI

500 Days of Summer

8/14/09 The Grand Theater Good This was a funny movie with some great acting and actors. I just didn't appreciate the treatment of the main male character by the main female character. It's the type of movie I would have tottally related to 10 years ago, but now, all I want to see is happy endings. It was creative in it's filming and presentation of it's storyline. www.youtube.com/watch?v=PsD0NpFSADM

The Time Traveller's Wife

8-14-78 The Grand Theater Excellent Cool movie. I enjoyed the idea. I was worried it might have a Quantum Leap sort of feel to it, but it didn't. It didn't take itself too seriously, it was more like, what if? I appreciated the what if and thought it made for an endearing thoughtful movie. The only thing is after you see it, don't try to tell someone what happens in the movie, it makes it sound really stupid. If you don't beleive me watch Jon Stewarts interview Rachel McAdams when she tells him what the movie's about. It's a little farfetched and complicated, but hello, it's about a time traveller. Maybe we shouldn't focus too much on the details, eat our popcorn and enjoy the show! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=USUDlMBR-dQ

Time for a rant!

Is anyone else tired of Movie Critic sites that do nothing but crap on movies they don't like. I mean why did you spend all of that money to go see something just so you can write something negative about it? What movie have you produced, directed, acted, written? Now I understand if you thought it was going to be great and then being disappointed . If that's the case then by all means be as critical as you like, however if you intentionally write about a movie to make yourself sound important or knowledgeable, well save it because no one cares what you think. No one cares what I think! And I get annoyed when I'm trying to find intelligent feedback on a movie and I find all these people just writing things because they think they're clever. You don't sound clever, you sound stupid. I read a review once that was so convoluted I didn't understand one word of it. Now I'm an educated man but I'm sure some of these people are sitting at their computers with

The Orphan

8-10-2009 The Grand Theater- Four Seasons Station F.U.B.A.R. In my day I have seen some screwed up movies. This was the most twisted weird*** movie I've ever seen. I'm going to have nightmares tonight and to be honest I'm not sure I want to sleep in a house with a small child. Wow this movie was crazy. It was an excellent movie but I wouldn't recommend it to anyone, I could never wish that on anyone. So unless you want to become very disturbed don't see this movie. It will warp your fragile little mind! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P8OjaV3gyOI

Julie and Julia

8-8-2009 The Grand Theater Excellent I perfered the Julie true story to the Julia! It was a great movie to watch. Both stories were very interesting and it helped to know they were both true. Julie in the movie reminds me of my wife and her husband reminds me of me. The only difference between him and me is I am a saint and I know it! Ouch...that lightening bolt was awfully close to the keyboard. I wonder with all of that butter how Julia and her hursband lived to be 92 and 94 years old? I'm so glad they told us at the end of the movie that the book Julie wrote was made into a movie...I would have never known. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6WPe1rs5gv4

The Perfect Getaway

8-8-2009 The Grand Theater Excellent Outstanding! (Stealing a line from the Movie) I totally called it 15 minutes in, by the way movie trailer producing people that read my blog don't ever say there's an amazing twist because it always gives it away, even so I loved the movie because it had the 2 main ingredients 1. Good characters 2. Good Story. I say again... Outstanding! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TLQfs9VK9a8

The Ugly Truth

8/7/2009 The Grand Theater Great Predicatble, Formula driven, nothing unexpected. Just good fun. I enjoyed my afternoon watching this movie, I think you will too! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8-wMe9vxkWI

The Collector

8/7/2009 The Grand Theater Excellent Yes! Go see it soon! Go see a good slasher movie! Go see some gore, as well as a few other things. Non stop exciting, well filmed action. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V-_TiV-yK7M

Funny People

8/2/2009 The Grand Theater Good This movie was moderately funny. The stand-up portions were the funniest. If you were looking for a purely funny movie then wait for the DVD and fast forward through the "story" part and just watch the stand up. The story portion of the movie is interesting, with interesting characters. I wasn't crazy about the ending, however it's probably a realistic one. The only probelm is after 2.5 hours, I'm ready for a more definative ending that isn't so open-ended. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=24VVnvrjI8w

Away We Go

7/3/2009 The Grand Theater Great What a Great Movie! I loved the whole thing. Good acting, funny and sweet story. I could definately identify with the main characters, it was like seeing my own personality on screen! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dEp3NKG2U5U

Public Enemies

7/2/2009 The Grand Theater Great This movie is well worth your money to see. Exciting action (Despite some shaky camera work) It seems I like Johnny Depp more each time I see him in a movie. I'm glad he did a movie where he wasn't some sort of freak of nature. It suits him well. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dWof6CovHxI

My Sister's Keeper

7/2/2009 The Grand Theater Excellent There is nothing sad about this movie. I wasn't going to see it because I didn't want to be depressed. I wasn't, in fact I felt good after seeing this movie. This movie isn't about a girl dying of cancer, It's about a family really living, loving, and appreciating the life they have. Sure I got a little emotional, but not for the reasons I expected. Very well done. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EdZZLdjBfCI

The Hangover

6/30/2009 Wynsong Theaters Great Settle down now, it was nothing that spectacular. It was crude and funny. That's what I expected, that's what I got. Special $1.00 Popcorn helped a lot! An enjoyable afternoon, Go Summer! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kzmkDDmoODA

Goodbye Solo

6/26/2009 The Carousel Good I was looking for a heart-warming-what a great world Drama. What I got instead was a meandering story without a begining or an end. Every question it askes was left unanswered. It was if we saw a few weeks of these people's lives and then left without finding out about them. I'm not really angry with this movie, except I don't think it was effective. Good job trying something new, but borring is still borring, and unreseolved leaves you, unresolved. The cool part was that it was set in Winston Salem! Always cool to see some local landmarks, however if you don't care about such things, don't bother. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U5IGC59Q9y8

Drag Me to Hell

6/15/2009 The Grand Theater Great This movie was so gross! What a freaky old lady. Scary Movie yet at times hiilarious...Here kitty, kitty. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p-REviL75zg

Imagine That

6/12/2009 The Grand Theater Great Go ahead, it'll make you feel warm and fuzzy. The girl was cute, Eddie Murphy was funny without going over the top. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=70U393tWjrw

Up!

6/6/2009 The Grand Theater Excellent What a sweet Movie! At the end of the movie, if you realize that dogs are colorblind you'll laugh your way out of the theater. Pixar does it again! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kyyrYPTjPJg

Obsessed

5/25/2009 The Grand Theater Great This was another boarderline movie. It was just barely great. It had a lot of great lines by Beyonce that were cool. A great girl fight at the end of the movie. It didn't change the Hollywood world, but it was a good time anyways. Just guys, do yourself a favor and tell your wife about the crazy girl at the office trying to seduce you! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JBq8clz1nvQ

Angels and Demons

5/21/2009 The Grand Theater Good Good sounds harsh, but was it great? It was a good story, although for someone who didn't read the books, it moved very quickly, and I can't say I quite understand it. It was OK, I just can't bring myself to say it was Great. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ASVeN-58HKk

Star Trek

5/7/2009 The Grand Theater Superior Well duh! It's Star Trek of course it get's a Superior rating. Whenever you have a new movie (long awaited) from your favorite television series of all time. (Yes, better than you Sopranos) you have the possibility of a great let-down (See Indiana Jones) Fortunately this movie was everything I wanted it to be and more. It has been so long since I've seen a new Star Trek story. This movie is relentlessly action packed, it's awesome. A whole new Star Trek World is born, literally. It's time for a new generation to boldly go where no man has gone before! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rROvwAoqLZc

Earth

4/25/2009 The Grand Theater Good Nothing wrong with this movie, just not great. It's the kind of movie you would enjoy while visiting Disney World, but here at home it doesn't do too much. I heard it compared to March of the Penguins, Earth wasn't even close. If nothing else Morgan Freeman is better than James Earl Jones any day. I also mistakingly thought Patrick Stewart was one of the narrators, big disapointment there!

Adventureland

4/10/2009 The Grand Theater Good Well the last 20 minutes was good, the rest was poor. A few almost funny moments, and you don't see a lot of Pittsburgh, which was really the reason I wanted to see it anyway. In the end...don't bother.

Knowing

3/23/2009 The Grand Theater Superior I did not know this movie was going to be as religious as it was until the end. I think the people who have given this movie a negative review, gave it a negative review because they knew beforehand of the obvious religious context. It's too bad for them because the missed some of the best film making and storytelling in a long while. To be honest I would have been with them. I usually stay away from movies that have a religious context because they so often fall short in just about every area of good film making (ie Fireproof, Left Behind, The Passion of the Christ) I am so glad I didn't know that in advance here beacause I would probably not have seen it. I expected it to be an "End of the World" movie, and that is all. I invite you to see it only with that pre-text. Get it out of your head that it's a religous movie and see it with the same open mind that you'd see any other movie, if you do, for real, then I believe you

I Love You Man

3/23/2009 The Grand Theater Excellent Thank-you. Thank you for entertaining me. Thank you for a light movie with funnypeople in it. Thank you for not making it too sad during the obligatory sad part. Thank you for being a little crude, but not neccesarilly or unbeleivable so. Thank-you. Maybe there's hope for Comedy yet.

Last House on the Left

3/9/2009 The Grand Theater Good This was actually a great movie, perhaps even an excellent one, however on three points it crossed a line which made it look unneccesarily vulgar and distasteful. Here are those 3 points. First of all, and least important of the three, the scene where the good doctor stiches and fixes the bad guys broken nose, this was gross and had no point to it. We get it his nose is broke, move on with the story. 2nd The opening scene, we get it that he's a bad guy. When you killed the officers in the opening scene while freeing the bad guy we didn't need the scene where the officer bleeds on the picture of his wife and kids, and is then told he'd never see them again. It's totally unbelieveable that the guy was so evil he would take the time to do this, it crossed a line and made the movie unenjoyable. 3rd. The rape scene was unneccesary. To have her watch her friend die and herself get raped was enough, they didn't have to happen at the sa

Friday the 13th

2/27/2009 The Grand Theater Good Well, maybe "not poor" is a better descriptor. It got off to a horribly, acted, written, filmed start. It was as if the JV team started making the movie and then the Varsity took over. It had all the ingredients of a slasher movie, however if this were the first "Jason" we'd never of heard of him again.

The Reader

2/16/2009 The Grand Theater Excellent Where is the press on this one? What a great movie. Very sensual, if you're uncomfortable with naked people, this one isn't for you. There's a lot of naked. There was so much involved in WWII it's amazing how many stories can come from it on all sides. Great acting, go see it!

Taken

2/8/2009 The Grand Theater Excellent Yeah Buddy! That movie was awesome! Good action without going over the top. Liam Nelson is a great actor, best action flick I've seen in a while. Be careful with the action sequences, filming them too quickly, you can miss what's going on. Overall though great entertainment!

Defiance

1/31/2009 The Grand Theater Great Hey, what can you say. It was a WWII movie! Was it Saving Private Ryan, or Miracle at St. Anna, or Band of Brothers, no. But it was a Great WWII movie! Filming was a little too gimmicky. Again, Hollywood, you don't need to do that, just tell the story!

Gran Torino

1/19/2009 The Grand Theater Excellent What a funny movie! I think they should stop making comedies, they're usually horrible. This non comedy was so funny I just about started rolling on the floor. What a great movie about a man who has a great transformation at the end of his life. Wow Clint Eastwood is a tough dude. He'll be 100 years old and I'll still be afraid of him. Great movie go see it!

The Unborn

1/9/2009 The Grand Theater Poor Not Scary. Just Stupid. Bad dialouge, horrible acting. I would have left early but the theater was crowded and I didn't want to wake the people next to me.

Seven Pounds

1/2/2009 The Grand Theater Good Why was it called 7 pounds. This movie could have been excellent. It had great acting. The storytelling was the problem. It's annoying because you don't find out the whole story until the very end. That's ok if what we find at the end is something amazing, or shocking. Something like "Seven" "Fight Club" "Sixth Sense" They had shocking ending which made not knowing what's going on worth it. 7 pounds wasn't worth it. It was about redemption, however the main character didn't need redemption, he himself suffered great loss, and those he helped were random and unconnected to those he hurt, accidentally. If they were somehow connected, then maybe it would have been better. If maybe there were no clues given it wouldhave worked better. The clues were given throughout the film, and you can piece it together yourself. The problem is you're not surprised by the ending you've been waiting for, yo

Yes Man

1/2/2009 The Grand Theater Great It's nice to have a comedy that can make you laugh without being raunchy. Not that I'm neccesarily apposed to raunchy, it just seems to me that everything in comedy is either raunchy, or not very funny. If Jim Carrey (who I'm not a huge fan of ) can be funny without being raunchy, then I have hope still for Comedy.

Australia

The Grand Theater Excellent Good movie that got better as it went. They should have slowed down the beginning because it was too hard to follow. There's a lot of exposition that you need to understand and it was very hard for me to follow. Once I did figure out the plot it was a very good movie, was it the best movie, certainlynot, however it was a beautifully filmed movie, with the exception fo the overuse of the Green screen. Acting was good, the bad guy needed to look a little more different then the good guy though. It was difficult to tell them apart. I thought the critics were wrong on this one, I enjoyed this movie

The Changeling

Paladium Theaters Great The Paladium sucks! Too expensive and screens are too small. Changeling however was a good movie. The corruption of the LAPD at thetime was very sad.

Burn After Reading

The Grand Theater Fair Maybe burn before seeing is more approriate. I mean really, Fargo, No country for old Men, and then this? Really. Not funny (Except for Brad Pitt) got better once someone died and then just ended. And by the way, where's the money? There's always money hidded somewhere. (If you've seen Fargo and No Country for Old men you'd understand) For shame Coen brothers, for shame. (Maybe I shouldn't have seen this movie right after Miracle a St. Anna?)

Eagle Eye

The Grand Theater Good This movie had parts of it that were good. But seriously if you fire a gun in the Capitol, during the state of the union address, you're dead. No way you won't get shot in the head.

Miracle at St. Anna

The Grand Theater Superior This is a great movie…that doesn't describe it well enough. This is by far the best movie I've seen all year. It had absolutely everything. After 2 hours and 40 minutes, you still want more. It deals with great issues, war, loyalty, race. Great filming, you cheer for the good guys, and you hate, i mean hate the bad guys. It doesn't shield you from the evil. It puts it right in front of your face and forces you to experience what war, ignorance and hatred really is. Run to see this movie as soon as you can. It will move and inspire you.

My Best Friend's Girl

The Grand Theater Good I like Kate Hudson, which makes this movie worth seeing. I wanted something sweet, and it was kind of sweet. They tried to be raunchy (edgy) that kind of brought the movie down. For a romantic comedy it just went too far. Wasn't impressed with Dane Cook at all.

Henry Poole Was Here

The Grand Theater Excellent This is a great movie. Spiritual, but not preachy. Touching but not overly dramatic. Doesn't take a side, just tells a story. Predictable, but sweet, and besides you want it to end the way you thought it would. Take a girl to this movie if you want to show her your sensitive, spiritual side.

Hamlet 2

The Grand Theater Fair Ummm… I'm not really sure what I saw. Was it funny…umm maybe. Was there good acting? Ummm no, but was there supposed to be? Did it make a real political, moral or social point…definitely no. Was it fun to watch…I wanted it to be, however I just endured it. In the end, no. Was it better than Pineapple Express...not really. was the movie a failure...no but save your $7.50 and see something worthwhile.

Death Race

The Grand Theater Great If you want to see some really awesome driving stunts, and things getting blown up, watch this movie. You'll love how all the bad guys (and girls) get what's coming to them. Definitely a movie for guys!

Bangcock Dangerous

The Grand Theater Great I think the movie about an assassin wanting to get out of the game, falling in love, and finding a student to learn his trade, has been made several times before. This movie however predictalb the plot was not too bad. Good action scenes, decent acting, deaf girl was cool. A good move, worth seeing, but probably not worth writing home about. (Does anyone really write letters home anymore anyway?

Traitor

Traitor The Grand Theater Excellent Great movie! Nothing exceptional about it, just a very well written creative movie. Very interesting view of terrorism, not just black and white, shades of gray without being preachy.

Mirrors

The Grand Theater Excellent This was an exciting movie! Some of it was predictableand acting/writing was weak in some areas. That didn't ruin it being excitingly suspenseful and pleasantly gory with another exciting ending for a thriller.

Ma-Ma Mia

The Grand Theater Excellent Meryl Streep freaks me out, I don't like looking at her. Pierce Brosnan is the most uncomfortable thing to see singing and dancing in a musical. This movie was outrageously campy, incredibly predictable, horribly corny and made me question my manhood just by being in the theater, seriously I was the only guy there, except for the husband who obviously was dragged there by his wife. So as you can tell "I LOVED IT!!!!!!!!!!!! And yes it was bad, but it was so much fun. In order to love this movie, as I did, you have to stop trying, give up on anything being legitimate and start laughing (out-loud) numerous times. sing a long (Out Loud) numerous times and yes even dance. I even cried! By definition a movie that makes you Laugh, Cry, Sing and Dance has to be an A movie, no matter how bad it is. The best way I can put it is this; Ma-Ma-Mia is pure fun, it does not try to be more than what it is, which makesit much much more than what it is.

Hancock

Country Side Cinemas Great Good movie. I enjoy fresh ideas, and this cetainly was a fresh idea for a Super Hero Movie. Lots of surprise twists. I won't tell. Biggest problem, for me, was the action sequences. Although the action wasn't as hard to follow as "Indiana Jones" There's still a lot going on making it hard to follow. The story was good, the filmmaking was a C- Too much jerky camereawork, and fartoo many close upsof Will Smith. In the end, I'd reccomend seeing this movie after you've seen Iron Man, Wall-E and the Incredible Hulk...if you have any money left.

The Dark Knight

The Grand Theater Excellent This movie has layers/ There were aspects of it I thoroughly enjoyed and thought were well done. Then there were other areas. I'll start with them. Dialogue and casting in the beginning were horrible. The moob soldiers were so stereotypical it was eye rolling worthy. I found myself a few times saying "Please tell me your going to do better than this"Thankfully they did and the problem turned out to be not all the actors in the movie, just one. Christian Bale was the worst Batman ever, I hated, I mean hated his "Batman" voice. Everyone else was great, Morgan freeman is always good, and the old "Alfred guy" always good. Christian Bale was just a let down. However Heath Ledger had an incredible performance (I'm not just saying that because he's dead, I don't care that he's dead, he did a good job.) I found myself enjoying the movie every minute that Christian Bale didn't talk. the action was excellent and ex

Wall-E

Country Side Cinemas Superior Most creative Pixar Creation ever made! Go see it 3 times, it's worth it! There is very little dialougue. It's hard for live actors to express emotion without the use of words and Pixar was able to effectively present an exciting, endearing and intimate story with animaed robots. A great success! Details are everything and every detail was careful planned and executed to the highest standards.

Get Smart

The Grand Theater Good Funny, but forgettable. Predictable, but then again it wasn't trying to be inventive. Other movies could learn from this practice. Existentialism Essay was thefunniest joke in themovie, however I was the only one laughing.

The Happenings

The Grand Theater Great Could have been an "A" movie, just fell short. The "happening" was filmed very effectively, very creepy. I did jump a few times. Again there was a struggle with the ending. Had they added another 20 minutes and wrote a better ending, it would have easily been an "A"

The Incredible Hulk

Country Side Cinemas Excellent Any time Edward Norton is in a movie, do yourself a favor and go see it. It's going to be good…Tell me one movie Edward Norton hasdone thathasn't been good…….That's right you can't, and Hulk is no different! However, since I'm not a Marvel Comic Guy, can someone please explain the ending? Ok I get it now. It's Iron Man, cool!

Iron Man

The Grand Theater Excellent Great Movie, loved the last line. There was a lot more to this movie than I initially expected, I'm sorry I pre-judged it!

Harold and Kumar

Kill-Devil Hills Theater Good First one, so much funnier. Neil Patrick Harris is always awesome in these movies. Go rent the first one and laught a lot more. They should have brought back "Freak Show."

Letherheads

Countryside Cinemas Good Nothing "wrong" with this movie, just forgettable. In fact I forgot I had seen it and had to come back 4 months laer to grade it after my wife reminded me that we saw it. I like all the actors, the story wasn't cookiecutter, however that didn'tmake it exceptional. It was cool though that one scene was filmed in Winston Salem.

Cloverfield

Countryside Cinemas Poor Horrible, here I'll give away the ending, oh yeah that's right it didn't have one! It's sad because if they hadn't have been so "creative" in it's filming, and actually old us what was going on, it would have been an absolutely incredible movie. Good art doesn't try, it just is.
