The Dark Knight

The Grand Theater
Excellent
This movie has layers/ There were aspects of it I thoroughly enjoyed and thought were well done. Then there were other areas. I'll start with them. Dialogue and casting in the beginning were horrible. The moob soldiers were so stereotypical it was eye rolling worthy. I found myself a few times saying "Please tell me your going to do better than this"Thankfully they did and the problem turned out to be not all the actors in the movie, just one. Christian Bale was the worst Batman ever, I hated, I mean hated his "Batman" voice. Everyone else was great, Morgan freeman is always good, and the old "Alfred guy" always good. Christian Bale was just a let down. However Heath Ledger had an incredible performance (I'm not just saying that because he's dead, I don't care that he's dead, he did a good job.) I found myself enjoying the movie every minute that Christian Bale didn't talk. the action was excellent and exciting, and the most interesting scenes involved the joker. Another problem though is that the DA's character got much weaker to me toward the second half of the movie. I thought the story was very good, I like dthe plot twists and the unexpected extensions to the story. A led to B led to C but didn't neccessarly end at C, it lead to F,W, and then finally Z where it ended nicely.

Gladiator...I mean Robin Hood

5/16/2010 The Grand Theater Good I wonder what would happen if you were to watch Gladiator and Robin Hood at the same time. Now I don't know for sure but here's my guess. At exactly the same time you would have.... Big opening battle (Wow this is cool!) Blah-blah-blah-blah-plot-plot-plot-plot-plot Smaller but still cool battle. Blah-blah-blah-blah-develope the story, oh isn't that funny and clever... Another Cool battle scene Blah-blah-blah-blah- love-love-love-love Yeah kill that guy, I wish I could shoot an arrow like that. Blah-blah-blah-blah-oh that's why he's the way he is... Yes Big battle. The end. Let's get rid of the blah-blah-blah-blah and just give us 100 minutes of what we really want. Big Epice unrealistic battles! That's all I have to say about that... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KSqL9ygBCck

A Christmas Carol 3-D

11-8-2009 The Grand Theater Superior This was the scariest I've seen in a long time. That's saying a lot considering my list. There were times I was shaken, and this isn't an unfamiliar story. This was also a beautiful movie with amusement park like effects, especially with the 3-D, which by the way I highly reccomend. With the 3-D glasses you really notice the care and detail taken to truly make this an imaginative and engaging remake of the ultimate Christmas Story (Next to the Jesus Story of course.) Many are critical of this movie because of it's over use of special effects and I would agree with them if the story telling and acting weren't as superb as they were. Jim Carey (I'm not really a fan) was excellent in his portrayal of Scrooge and the Spirits of Christmas Past and Present. Each Spirit character including Jacob Marley was both endearing and terrifying. Exactly as their characters should be. The exception being the Spirit of Christmas Yet to Come, h...

The Chronicles of Narnia- Voyage of the Dawn Treader

The Chronicles of Narnia- Voyage of the Dawn Treader AMC 21 Movie Theater Chicago Good This was an unimpressive movie in an unimpressive theater. I had high hopes seeing a movie in Downtown Chicago, I was disappointed . I guess I'll never find a better theater than the Grand in Winston Salem! The problem with this movie is that is was missing 2 of the 4 main characters. Apparently the older two are too old to go to Narnia, which I think is crap. I kept on waiting for a surprise appearance, since the older two were far more interesting than the younger two, however except for a dream sequence it wasn't to be. I found this story, not horrible, but definitely not as good as Prince Caspian. It's funny, out of the trilogy I felt the same about the 3rd one as I did the first. The middle one was my favorite! I don't know how close this movie is to the books, but standing alone this movie would have been quickly forgotten. In fact I almost forgot to write a review, that's...
